2 things

I’ve had pain in my ear off and on since January. The first doc gave me a swimmers ear treatment. The next doc saw a film in my ear and referred me to an ENT. The ENT removed the film, referred me to an allergist, and did other tests. But no one simply gave me a 2nd round of ear drops.
Anyway - 5 months later - it seems that my ear drum ruptured.
I’ve been on ear drops and oral antibiotics since Monday.
The ear pain has gone away almost entirely and the ear is no longer so swollen a Qtip can’t go into it (not that I’m putting Q tips in, just as a measure)
But the side effects of the oral antibiotics are starting to feel worse than the ear pain.
I hardly slept last night.
I finish the meds on Wednesday… and I’m hoping the side effects are not this bad the whole time.
I decided not to eat yesterday to see if that would help with the digestion side effects. Yeah… some but not enough. So I’m eating again today.

In other news, a man from my small group at my UU fellowship found out - out of the blue - that he has liver failure and couldn’t get a transplant. He’s on Hospice now. I am hoping to see him this weekend. James C. Probably about my age… maybe younger?
No words.

Ugh, I'm so sorry both about the ear pain, which I always find particularly distracting; and about your friend.

I imagine the antibiotics will take care of the ear pain, but there's no real cure for the pain of losing someone too young.
