Ads from Democrats?

In an attempt to start posting here more often - here is a random thought:
The amount of ads I’m getting to contribute to the democrats and pledge to vote for them is SO OBNOXIOUS that I am actually wondering if the ads are from republicans pretending to be annoying democrats.

Probably just obnoxious, clueless democrats - but it makes me wonder.

I think part of the problem is that it's not just one organization--the Harris/Walz campaign is sending out messages, and so are the Democratic National Committee, Swing Left, and a variety of state-level groups that are looking for donations and/or volunteers for specific congressional, gubernatorial, and sometimes local candidates. I'm not getting Massachusetts-specific texts or emails, but my Congresswoman is running unopposed. (I don't know details of what's on Boston TV, except that a bunch of it is aimed at New Hampshire.)

You are definitely right that part of the problem is multiple groups.

And I’m getting too many even of the ones were Kamala is directly asking for money.

At this point, it looks like her campaign has enough money, and I'm thinking in terms of where else to donate (probably congressional races). I do keep glancing at the official Harris-for-president website, to see if I like any of the shirts or hats enough to order one; so far, the only things that appealed had sold out by the time I looked.

If I was in Minneapolis, I'd be looking at Naomi Kritzer's election write-ups to see if it made sense to give money there..

You mean spammy texts, not ads, right?

It is my belief that NONE of these f-ing things are legit. I mean, seriously? "Hi, you don't know me but blahblahblah - click on this link to send me money." They are criminal spammers trying to get your money, and they all deserve to be in jail.

Texts, emails, ads on YouTube. I agree that it’s a bad idea to donate by clicking any of those links.

Now I’m even wondering if the recordings of Kamala asking for donations are deep fakes…

When I worked as a campaign door knocker, I was told that even if people say "You've been here six times this week and called fifteen times! Please stop or I won't vote for your candidate anymore," they will always continue to support. Never believe anyone who says they don't like being harassed!
